The Peter's Creek trailhead is one of the closest hiking trails to the cabin. Once you arrive, there is only on-street parking for a limited number of cars. Try to park with your car as far off the road as possible. There are 2 options once you start on the trail. One fork goes up to the top of Bear Mountain and the other stays in the trees and heads back Peters Creek Valley with an option to climb Mt. Eklutna. The trail up to Bear Mtn is very steep with amazing views at the top. Well worth the effort. The trail meandering back the Peter's Creek valley is lovely and an easy hike in all weather. It is also fun to bike back this trail. As with all hiking in Alaska, I highly recommend you take bear spray (provided in the cabin) and make lots of noise as you hike no matter where you go.
