Thunderbird Falls is a waterfall located in Eklutna, Alaska. It has an elevation of about 100 feet and flows into the Eklutna River. Due to its proximity to Anchorage, about a thirty-minute drive, it is a popular place for tourists and those living nearby.
An easy out and back hike in Chugiak, 30 min away. Wide dirt path with some boardwalk and a waterfall at the end. It's a good hike for intrepid hikers or those that need milder terrain.
A beautiful waterfall awaits you after a short hike from the parking lot. Ideal for kids or people who have trouble with long hikes. Thunderbird Falls is accessed just north of Peter's Creek at the Thunderbird Falls exit. As with all hiking in Alaska, I highly recommend you take bear spray (provided in the cabin) and make lots of noise as you hike no matter where you go.
