The scenery from Plymouth Hoe is outstanding as far as the eye can see. You can see the breakwater, Drakes Island to your left the Marina at the Barbican, Mountbatten and Fort Bovisand. To the right you can see Cornwall Mount Edgecombe another beautiful place to visit.

Smeaton Tower is located only 10 minutes (drive) away and is the focus point of the beautiful Hoe. Smeaton's Tower is a memorial to civil engineer John Smeaton, designer of the third and most notable Eddystone Lighthouse. A major step forward in lighthouse design, Smeaton's structure was in use from 1759 to 1877, until erosion of the ledge it was built upon forced new construction. The tower was largely dismantled and rebuilt on Plymouth Hoe in Plymouth, Devon, where it stands today. Breathtaking views across the sound. Places to enjoy a bite to eat or treat yourself to an ice cream and take in incredible view. There is a flat promenade which is perfect for taking your children with their bikes/scooters.

Smeaton's Tower, also known as the Lighthouse, is the fourth version of its kind with the previous three being situated at sea. Can you find the bumprints of the famous four Beatles, they are close to the Lighthouse! Why not re-inact the famous image of The Beatles dated back in 1967 when they visited the Westcountry.
