Medieval town with great shops offering local produce, coupled with some fantastic places to eat out. Famous for it's International Jazz Festival over August Bank Holiday weekend.

Historic Rye is a must see and has a multitude of places to visit, the Heritage Centre with it's town model. Ypres Tower, the Museum, or just stroll around taking in the history and architecture. Rye boasts a fantastic selection of places to eat from Rope Walk Cafe to Webbe's at the Fish Cafe and from Tatners Street Kitchen to Pizza & Prosecco, you'll be spoilt for choice. Rye holds several festivals during the year, the Rye Jazz & Blues Festival in August, Rye Arts Festival in September and Scallop Festival in February.

A medieval hilltop town, surrounded by a wall, with a castle. Lots of history here, especially about smuggling and the Mermaid Inn is reputed to have a ghost. On the wall of this hotel you can see part of a Rudyard Kipling poem about the smugglers.

Rye is a beautiful medieval town near to Hastings, with cobbled lanes and half-timbered houses. The redbrick Lamb House was once owned by writer Henry James. Nearby, the tower of the Norman St. Mary’s Church overlooks the town. The 14th-century Ypres Tower, which formed part of Rye’s defences, is now Rye Castle Museum, with paintings and displays on local history. It is full of lovely boutique and antique shops and great eateries. Check out Knoops at Tower Forge, Hilders Cliff, Rye for an amazing choice of hot chocolates! Don't forget to order the homemade marshmallow!
