“Milan is now known mostly for fashion. Food also plays a big role. ...and lets not forget about Leonardo Da Vinci, who spent most of his life as an artist in Milan and left here many of his works, including his famous "Last Supper". But before being the modern town it is today with an economy based on services, it was the capital of a very wide region primarily active in the manufacturing business. NoLo (and Lambrate next to NoLo) tells the recent history of Milan. Walking around the neighborhood, one goes through the economic miracle of Milan fuelled by the factories, the enterpreneurs and the workers who moved from everywhere in Italy during 20th century, in search for a better life. Campari, Branca, Pirelli, Alemagna, Motta, Falck Breda, Borletti are just a few of the names that resonate in this neighborhood. The name "NoLo" was invented by a local design agency and spread by locals and the press. Recently, from February 2019, even the municipality of Milan decided to use this name in its official documents. NoLo is a multiethnic neighborhood where Asia, Italian tradition, South America and North Africa cross their paths. From this melting pot (that used to be kinda sketchy just a few years ago) many interesting experiences are sprouting. NoLo is now Milans's incubator for next trends: art, cinema and food are surprising here!”
