It is very pretty, typically dutch. Even though it is touristy, it is recommended to go here. The historical windmills and museums are interesting.

Touristic yet beautiful attraction. Here you find original wooden houses, the first Albert heijn and windmills that still actually work. The bus around the corner has a stop here.

Zaanse Schans is a neighborhood in the Dutch town of Zaandam, 20 km outside of Amsterdam. While there are many ways to reach this major tourist hotspot including cycling of course, I would recommend taking a ferry. Historic windmills and distinctive green wooden houses were relocated here to recreate the look of an 18th/19th-century village. The Zaans Museum has regional costumes, model windmills and interactive exhibits on chocolate making. Artisan workshops demonstrate rare handicrafts such as wooden clog carving, barrel making and pewter casting.
