Best beach in Islay and you might even have the whole beach to yourself. However be careful as there as some undercurrents so not safe for swimming.

Park up at the wee car park and a 2 minute walk through the sand dunes will take you to Machir Bay - the roar of the Atlantic Ocean will stay with you forever. Not safe for swimming/water activites though. Maybe a paddle!!

one of Islay's most spectacular beaches. Machair Bay is a scenic half hour drive from Persabus, where Atlantic rollers come crashing onto a beautiful huge sandy beach. It is not safe for swimming due to under currents, but if the tide is out you can swim in the deep sandy rockpools at the far end.

A must see on Islay, this beautiful wide open bay facing out to the Atlantic, has the bracing sea air and sunshine that will blow away any cares or cobwebs you may have brought with you to Islay. Nearby Kilchoman Distillery has coffee and cake too - what more can there be?
