from Tallows beach walking to Broken Head Ti-Tree Lake (Taylors Lake) includes a mosaic of swamp sclerophyll forest, sedgeland, Banksia shrubland and moist sclerophyll forest. A number of threatened flora and fauna species exist within this area.Ti-Tree Lake (Taylors Lake) is of very high conservation significance and of high cultural significance to local Aboriginal people. The area is proposed as a nature reserve. Ti Tree Lake (Taylors), a women’s site identified with successful childbirth, is of considerable significance to Aboriginal people. This was a taboo area where its use by men was limited to ritual preparation for combat. This is a unique site, one of only four remaining women’s sites in the region.

Nothing beats a tea-tree lake! Great for your skin and hair the essential oils in this water are not to be missed. Be sure to drop by for a swim! This lake is accessed from the beach and will take a 200 metre walk down the beach to locate. From the clifford st beach entrance walk south along the beach and once you see the lake turn and walk along the left side to find a spot to sit. Alternatively you can set up on the beach and swim into the lake.

A beautiful natural tea tree lake, great for kids and families. The copper coloured lake is permanently discoloured by ti-tree tannins from the trees that surround the lake. The ti-tree infused water is said to have therapeutic and rejuvenating properties and is a sacred and traditional site for the local indigenous Bundjalung women. byron4kids.com.au/bundjalung-ti-tree-lake

A most beautiful and special place. Warm, safe swimming in the tea tree infused waters. So peaceful and so close.
