Trained in Japan, Silver Thread Chef Kyle Connaughton adheres to the philosophy of omotenashi, the “spirit of selfless hospitality, anticipating needs without having to be asked.” Kyle and his high school sweetheart and now wife, Katina, who oversees the couple’s five-acre organic farm, have created an absolute jewel in the heart of Healdsburg. The Michelin three-star restaurant is acutely attuned to each micro season in Sonoma County with its organic farm producing some 70% of the produce used in its food preparation and all of its olive oil, all in near-perfect silence as the service team uses cameras to track the progress of each party in the restaurant and a lighting system, based on the time of sunset, that is set to change seven times throughout the evening. This is a not to be missed fine dinning experience! What you will see on the elaborate $225 tasting menu, paid in advance with the addition of tax and 20 percent service charge, is a Japan-meets-Sonoma progression of 11 courses, starting with a magnificent presentation of wood covered in moss and delicate flowers that serves as a base for nine or 10 bite-size appetizers set on the table just before guests are seated. The roof top lounge is wonderful. Make your reservation early as this is a very popular destination.

If you want to have a special mean this is the place to go. Plan for $250 plus per person. Reservations can be difficult so plan ahead
