Another local treat for that special occasion is The Cavendish Hotel. Literally a 2 minute walk away. The setting, with views towards the Chatsworth estate, is stunning. If you don’t fancy splashing out on a full blown evening meal, afternoon tea is highly recommended. Tel: 01246 58231

Overlooking the Chatsworth Estate, this elegant hotel has a range of dining options. From decadent 3 course dinners, stylish champagne afternoon teas, and even private dining options, the staff are always happy to help. This wonderful place is a personal favourite of ours for a special occasion (while the children are being looked after by someone else!)

The Cavendish is posh, but the Garden Room allows normal people in like me - they don't take bookings, but the food is good, affordable and you can see Chatsworth House in the background. If you can afford it, they will, of course, take bookings for their restaurant (I haven't been!)

Two restaurants - one formal; one less so. Lovely old hotel in the grounds of the Chatsworth estate - old fashioned service but a little pricey.
