Double Island Point is a hidden gem on the coastline. It has the longest surf break in Eastern Australia. Access Double Island along the beach and marvel at the coloured sands that give Rainbow Beach its name. Or if tides are not permitting, take the inland track. Please note: 4WD only and permits required. Permits can be bought at the ticket office on the main street. Please take care of our beautiful slice of heaven and enjoy.

When you reach Double Island Point you can splash in the calm lagoon at the base of Double Island Point headland and watch surfers at the base of the headland catching long, rolling waves. Then climb the steep track to the lighthouse and enjoy lunch while gazing at sweeping views over the ocean and coast to the north and south. Fully refreshed, you’ll be ready for the return journey. Getting there: From the south end, drive 45km north along the Cooloola Beach drive to Double Island Point and the walk entrance. From the north end, drive 10km south along the beach, then drive 1km inland on the Leisha track, turn left on the southern beach and drive a further 2km north to the walk entrance.
