Urban Guild is a great live venue. Check their website for scheduling. It's a bit tricky to find so you have to keep a good eye out. It's on Kiyamachi, east side of the street, around Rokkaku Street if Rokkaku went all the way to Kiyamachi. Quite the heart of Kyoto's nightlife district.
