Appalachian trial runs through the area, state parks a plenty with hiking, swimming, and fishing. Trout fly fishing is very good in local streams.

The Michaux State Forest is home to both Caledonia and Pine Grove State Parks. Caledonia, located in the Corner of Franklin and Adams Counties is a quick drive for a nice day away in the woods. Pine Grove State Park is home to Laurel and Fuller Lakes. Both have beaches with facilities (bathrooms and concessions in the summer) The state has invested money over the past few years into Pine Grove Park, making for more picnic areas, nicer trails and an overall better outdoor experience. Various trails, Tumbling Run and Mountain Creek add to the available sites to see and do at anytime during the year.
