About 30 minutes from the house. If it snows overnight there is no better place in the world to ski than the back bowls and Blue Sky Basin in Vail. Get there early to get a parking space in the Vail Village or Lionshead Garage.

Take I-70 west to Glenwood Springs and follow the signs off Hwy 82 to Sunlight. Great place for the kids to take ski lessons. You can get 1-on-1 lessons here for about the same price as a large group lesson at the bigger resorts.
