Sightseeing
You can access many flat trails along the river at Riverbottom park. Trails extend north and south of the park for several miles each direction. Great for hiking, biking or jogging. There are also many picnic tables available where you can enjoy a meal while watching the kayakers and stand up paddler boarders ride the waves in the river. There are also two nice playgrounds, a basketball court, a bike/skateboarding park, soccer & baseball fields, and a hockey rink available. If you are ready for a more strenuous hike, take the trail over the bridge and up the hill to see a beautiful view of our town.

Ridgway is a historic town with many fun shops and restaurants. It is located 30 minutes south of Montrose but it will feel shorter because of the beautiful views along the way!

Another fun, historic Colorado town. Ouray is located 45 minutes south of Montrose and is known for their amazing hot springs swimming pool and many jeeping and 4x4 trails. They also have many beautiful hiking trails, great restaurants and fun shops you should visit. The visitor's center offers lots of great suggestions. We love the perimeter tail, a hiking trail that can be accessed from many different points in town. In the winter be sure to check out the ice climbers at the end of town. Box Canyon Waterfall is also a fun place to visit.

Many wonderful parks to enjoy in town
River Bottom Park- two playgrounds, one for toddlers and one for older children, many flat trails along the river that you can bike or hike for several miles in each direction from the park. You can also enjoy watching kayakers, and stand up paddle boarders riding the waves in the river.
Holly Park- A brand new playground designed for older children
Buckley Park- A large playground with many slides, swings, and open grass to play in
Fox Park- Ideal for hot days, this park is covered by shades in the summertime to avoid hot slides.
