Porthmeor – St Ives. Often very good surf and you can pop into the Tate afterwards. The Barbara Hepworth museum is also brilliant. A great spot but gets very busy in high season.

Porthleven – a bustling fishing harbour town and when the waves are big. They will hit over the harbour wall. Iconic image of Cornwall and also great for a walk around the town with good cafes and bars. The Ship Inn at the far end of the harbour is our favourite.

Lizard Lighthouse – a wonderful coastal walk and keep an eye out for choughs and gannets. The Housel Bay Hotel was a good stop for a pint but it’s gone a bit fancy now with Mediterranean flat breads and chorizo sandwiches. What’s wrong with a pint and a pasty?! Still – you might like it…
