We will meet front of Hashem Restaurant. Over the course of the tour, we will walk through Soug al Bukharieh (the first market established in Amman). The story of Jabal al Joufeh will be unveiled as we move towards the stunning view overlooking Amman from Ahmad's roof, where he will share with us his love for the art of pigeon taming and watching. His family will welcome us and tell us about living in an informal Palestinian camp. Walking through the narrow stairs that identify the city, we will arrive in downtown Amman, where we will meet the Falafel pioneer and hear the story of Fuad, established in 1948. With Habibah knafeh around the corner, we will enjoy a slice of their famous dish. Passing by Gahwet el Ahd al Qadim, we will hear about the Eucalyptus tree framing the old coffee shop. From the 14th floor of Fuhais Building, we will enjoy the magical view and learn about the 7 hills of Amman. Arriving at Al-Kalha stairs to see the new local street art and unique business models created by the youth we will end the tour. Dinner with a family host can be arranged for a modest additional cost, if desired. Please send a direct message if you're interested. Amman er en by fuld af hemmeligheder med skjulte perler rundt om hvert hjørne og en fascinerende historisk fortid. Vi mødes foran Hashem-restauranten og derfra fortsætter vi med te på al Duke-kontoret, den ældste bygning i byen, der er åben for besøgende. Derefter går vi til citadellet placeret på en af de syv bakker, som Amman blev bygget på, ved hjælp af en genvej, som kun de lokale ved om. På vejen tager jeg dig til det bedste falafel sted i byen, et som TripAdvisor ikke engang ved om, og får sandwich til at gå. Citadellet tilbyder monumenter såsom Hercules-templet, et Umayyad-palads og en byzantinsk kirke. Her kan vi nyde en Instagram-værdig udsigt over Amman og derefter gå ned til det romerske amfiteater. Derfra er souqs i nærheden, hvis du gerne vil se de lokale markeder. Derefter vil jeg gerne invitere dig til en kop kaffe eller te på den ældste café i Jordan og måske også ryge shisha. We will meet in Amman and drive north approximately 120 km to Um Qays. We will stop on the way for a local breakfast and coffee/tea. We will start the experience at the Um Qays Heritage and Archaeological site. Here, we will learn about the Roman and Greek ruins and amphitheater, as well the mosaic remains and sculptures in the museum. The site allows us to witness several different civilizations who have lived in the area. Moving on to a view overlooking Tiberias Lake, showing the Golan Heights, we will observe the political divisions of the region with our own eyes. Arriving at Al-Mukhaybeh village, we will meet with locals to learn about their daily life, culture, and identity. We will be welcomed by the head of the village for tea. A pick-up truck will move us to a trail along the Arayes (or “of the brides”) pond, a beautiful sight with great stories. We will learn about its name and significance in relation to the agricultural projects, the village’s famous hot springs and its current reality, while having lunch and discussing the exceptional handicrafts in the village and their significance across generations. **Important Note: the cost of the experience does not include transportation from and back to Amman. The cost of transportation depends on the size of the group. 1-3 people will be 50JD.** Departure time is 9 am; return to Amman at 9 pm Other things to note This is a day trip departing from and returning to Amman. We will begin our tour at one of Amman's oldest district (Abdali), heading towards the main court of Amman (Palace of Justice) where we will share a little bit of Amman's history and judicial system. Then we will visit a mosque and a church which are located at the same street talking about the diversity in Jordan and sharing the habits and traditions of its citizens. As we continue walking, we will visit the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts which is a cultural, non-governmental, non-profit organisation, founded in Amman, Jordan, in 1979. Its goal is to encourage cultural diversity, disseminate artistic knowledge and promote art from the Islamic and Developing worlds. In 1980 it established the contemporary museum collection of artworks from the Developing World. We will then visit a local jam shop which is a dynamic lifestyle brand from Jordan. Makers of artisan jams, botanical teas and raw honey. they design food experiences inspired by the landscape and my tourists get to buy and taste some of their remarkable jams. The tour will end at Downtown Amman, which we will get to buy going down very unique stairs with graffiti drawings on every wall. We will have lunch at the very famous Falafel restaurant and end it up with the delicious sweet Knafeh. Other things to note It is a walking tour so make sure you come with comfortable shoes!
