Leadville National Fish Hatchery (NFH), established in 1889, is the second oldest Federally operated fish hatchery in existence today. Leadville National Fish Hatchery was created by Executive Order of President Benjamin Harrison for the purpose of increasing the supply of fish for inland waters. The hatchery grounds occupy 3,072 acres near the city of Leadville, Colorado, at an elevation of 10,000 feet. The hatchery’s subalpine forest surroundings, with its cold, clean water supply provide the ideal location for trout production. - fws.gov

Look at them fish! Feed those fish? The Leadville fish hatchery is the second oldest Federally operated fish hatchery. They allow the public to come by and take a look at the processes of fish hatcheries, as well as feed the rainbow trout! Sometimes they'll even jump out of the water. Such fun, especially for younger children!

This is a great place to take kids (bring quarters for fish food). There are some great hikes that are great for families here too.
