Lying 12 miles off the coast of North Devon, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Bristol Channel, this peaceful, unspoilt granite outcrop stands just three miles long and half a mile wide. With a starkly contrasting landscape, asserting high rugged cliffs on the west and a sheltered grassy coastline to the east, the Island creates a rich diversity of animal and plant life loved by walkers, climbers and wildlife enthusiasts alike. It is the UK’s first Marine Conservation Zone and the waters play host to a spectacular array of marine wildlife. Ferries can be taken from Bideford or Ilfracombe.

During the summer season (March until the end of October), you can get to the Island of Lundy in its own supply ship and ferry, the MS Oldenburg. The boat departs several times a week from either Bideford or Ilfracombe and you will need to look up the exact time and place of departure. Lundy with its Puffins, lighthouse, walking, views and the Marisco Tavern, is a great sightseeing opportunity.
