Whether you are an experienced walker or someone who prefers a short stroll, Tarr Steps is a great place to go when looking to explore Exmoor National Park. You can head straight there, utilising the on site car park and toilet facilities, with just a gentle walk down to the ancient clapper bridge…
This is a beautiful ancient clapper bridge in the heart of Exmoor with an excellent pub. Lots of walks, swimming, paddling and ice creams, depending on season. Be prepared for an uphill walk (about half a mile) back up to the car park. Small disabled car park right by the river though.
Beautiful spot by the river. Great for walks, or a paddle and with a restaurant/tea rooms for refuelling.
Tarr Steps is a great place to picnic and go walking, where you and your children can run free and explore the stunning countryside within Exmoor National Park.

“Long beach with massive dunes. Some of Pink Floyds The Wall was filmed here and a C130 Hercules landed on the beach. Parking costs, or cycle there.”

“Just a few minutes on from the Valley of the Rocks, Lynton is a lovely little town with nice cafes and shops. Take a walk down the winding path to Lynmouth below. A picturesque little coastal and riverside town also with some good cafes and shops. If you are too tired to make the climb back up you can take the cliff railway which is quite good fun!”
