A lot of people don’t know that one of the largest collections of coastal redwoods in the Bay Area is right in the Oakland Hills. I go to this massive park with my family all the time. It has tons of hiking trails and meadows to get out and stretch your legs. There are also plenty of picnic tables, so pack a lunch and make a day out of it. If you go during the week, you don't have to pay for parking.

Redwood Regional Park is an oasis of redwood trees on this side of the bay. If parking and getting to Muir Woods sounds like too much of a hassle, consider Redwood as a more serene alternative.
If you're craving a hike, but don't want to drive too far. Great views of the Bay.
Get lost in a place that's somehow both a world away and just steps from the front door.
You will not believe you are in Oakland. Enjoy the shade from the majestic Redwoods as you enjoy a hike. At certain time of year you can see the ladybug mating season

“The best place for all things Oakland and California. Art and design, history, kid's exhibits, and (in our opinion) a world-class restaurant. Come on a Friday night (post-pandemic) for live music and Oakland's best food trucks. Or simply come to chill in the rooftop garden and visit the koi pond.”
