Must see. By same designer as the Golden Gate but earlier, gothic fabulousness with a park and river beneath. Forest park across the bridge and awesome St. John’s neighborhood to explore.
This is the land of bridges and this is my favorite one. Definitely the most photographed. Designed by internationally renowned engineer David B. Steinman (1886–1960) and Holton D. Robinson, of New York, the St. Johns was the longest suspension-type bridge west of the Mississippi River at the time…
It's beautiful in its own right, but it's also the gateway to the St. Johns neighborhood. Get your hipster on!
Many people in Portland say the St. Johns bridge is their favorite bridge. We have 11 bridges so that's saying something. It's a great bridge to walk across and bring your camera for some fine views of the city and mountains.
