Sherwood Island State Park is about 22.4 miles, a 30minute drive from Pleasant Valley Trails on the Long Island Sound in Westport. In addition to the salt water beaches there is a Nature Center, picnic areas, restrooms available.
Beach on Long island Sound. Lots of parking, Large beach, Pavilion with food. more than one bath house, handicap accessible, off season (spring, fall, winter) you can have the beach to yourself. Great beach for walking.
Sherwood Island State Park is a public recreation area on the shore of Long Island Sound in the Greens Farms section of Westport, Connecticut.
This is a State run beach open to all. If driving a Connecticut registered automobile the entry fee is $13, out of state $22. This beautiful beach is southeast of here about 18 miles. Connecticut has more public beaches, but this is closest and perhaps has the most reasonable fee.
