In the city center by the Parliament you will find our National Museum, worth a visit. The National Museum of Slovenia displays the earliest musical instrument in the world, a 60,000-year-old Neanderthal flute, dugout canoe from the Ljubljana marsh, Egyptian mummy, the oldest gold artefacts in Slovenia and many other interesting objects. Beside they organise a lot of exhibitions and events, taht attract visitors from all around Slovenia and many turists.

The National Museum of Slovenia is situated in the Center district of the city near Tivoli Park on Muzejska ulica 1. Along with the Slovenian Museum of Natural History, located in the same building, the National Museum of Slovenia is the country's oldest scientific and cultural institution. The museum has an extensive collection of archaeological artefacts, old coins and banknotes (in the numismatics department on the ground floor) and displays related to the applied arts.
