“Right on the beach, Flat White is a favourite for coffee, brunch, dinner and everything in between. Booking is recommended on weekend evenings in peak season and holiday weekends. They're often booked out on weekends during wedding season, but they keep their smaller café open at the back when the main venue is hosting a wedding). You can't go past the steamed pork buns and save room for desert!”

“SURF SHACK (AirBnb is putting the previous cafe's name on and it can't be edited) On the outskirts of Waihi Beach, this unassuming and eclectic eatery is Lonely Planet’s pick for the best place to eat at Waihi Beach and has “quite possibly the best burgers in NZ”. The rustic decor is all part of the charm and if it’s a sunny day, there are lots of tables outside to sit at to dive into your Brekkie Burrito. The servings are on the large size of generous, so bring your appetite. The only downside is that they’re only open Wednesday to Saturday 9am to 2.30pm and until 2pm on Sundays. You’ll find yourself wanting to come back to the Beach just to work your way through the menu! It’s a 3km walk along the beach from the studio, so if you’ve got a leisurely day planned, leave the car behind and work up an appetite on the way there.”

“If you were to describe Waihi Beach as having a ‘social scene’, this is where you’ll find it. The Pub is your old school-style quintessential Kiwi pub. At first glance it may look a little rough and ready, but the craft beers behind the bar and the gourmet burgers on the bar menu tell a different story. There’s live music every Saturday night and it’s usually on the itinerary for well-known Kiwi acts doing a summer tour. You’ll find the Bistro attached to the Waihi Beach Hotel. Formerly owned by the Hip Group, it’s not the foodie destination that it once was, but the food is still always good. The menu is quite ‘meaty’, so if you’re vegetarian you’ll be pressed for choice. Take a shortcut to get there from the Boat House - walk to the end of Edinburgh Street and cut across the reserve to get to Wilson Road. If you fancy a good takeaway, order from the bar menu ‘to go’. In summer, treat yourself to a sorbet or gelato from the bistro.”

“A little further away than Sapphire Springs, but why not see if YogaWithMiriama (Facebook) is holding an in pool yoga session during your stay?”
