This large park with lots of open space is also known as the Parc l'Escorxador (so named because it stands on the site of the old municipal slaughterhouse: escorxador in Catalan) and is used by visitors and locals from Barcelona's Eixample Esquerra to relax. This great urban "lung", full of possibilities, is located at the south-west end of the neighbourhood and is the perfect appetiser before you begin exploring the monumental Plaça Espanya. An artificial water channel runs parallel to Carrer Tarragona, lending coolness to this side of the Parc de Joan Miró. This is the site of Joan Miró's 22-metre-high monumental sculpture Dona i Ocell (Woman and Bird). Like the park, it was dedicated in 1983, shortly before the artist's death. There is a public library on the other side of the park, which is named after Joan Miró.

The park has two different areas: a large square at street level, where a pond with the sculpture Mujer y Pájaro by Joan Miró stands out; and the park itself, located on a lower level, with shaded paths of pergolas with climbing plants, and a grove of trees populated mainly with pines, poplars, palms and oaks, planted symmetrically.3 Next to Vilamarí street there is a pond in whose center is the Joan Miró Library, which has a curious door formed by two steel doors in the shape of children walking, which bears the name of School and was designed by the architects of the park.4 The park also has sports courts, an area for dogs, a playground, pétanque courts, ping-pong tables and a bar.

Lovely park close to Plaça Espanya with basketball courts, a dog park, small reflection pool and lots of grass! It´s a lovely place for a break.

Big park. Here you can see a 22-metre high sculpture by Joan Miró called Dona i ocell (Woman and bird)
