The highlight at Jantar Mantar is the large sundial. It is the world’s largest stone sundial and is capable of determining the time of the day pretty accurately. Also, Please take the audio guide if you would like to properly understand the history of this place and the significance of each of the large instruments.

Great place to witness olden technological culture. It simply shows how great the olden day’s astrology was. The time plot was just amazing. The other bigger time plot had an accuracy level of 2 seconds. I was just amazed to see how they had generated ideas to get 1 half and complementing another half to look at the various stages of Sun movements. Different blocks for different zodiac signs placed according to the configuration of the stars. Suggest to go along with the guide it’s worth it.

Adjacent to the City Palace is Jantar Mantar, an observatory begun by Jai Singh II in 1728 that resembles a collection of bizarre giant sculptures. Built for measuring the heavens, the name is derived from the Sanskrit yanta mantr, meaning 'instrument of calculation', and in 2010 it was added to India’s list of Unesco World Heritage Sites. Paying for a local guide is highly recommended if you wish to learn how each fascinating instrument works. Our bnb in Jaipur is located within 7 minutes’ drive by tuk-tuk / taxi to Jantar.
