“This is a huge open green park in the center of Madrid. Locals and tourists alike walk here to relax and meet with friends. The lake in the middle is large and a good place to walk around or have a picnic. There a few cafes, stalls, and even restaurants hidden throughout the park if you are looking for a place to sit. Meanwhile, the crystal palace near the lake typically has some kind of art or nature exhibition going on throughout the year. It´s a great place to unwind at the end of the end and you can also rent a paddleboat to go on the water itself. day and relax to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.”

“Located on the Art Walk, the Reina Sofía houses paintings by Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró and Juan Gris as well as one of Spain’s most famous artworks, Picasso’s Guernica. Opened in 1990, this is Madrid’s Spanish contemporary art museum par excellence. Its collection, which comprises over 22,400 works, spans much of the 20th century and is divided into three sections titled The Irruption of the 20th Century. Utopia and Conflict (1900-1945), Is the War Over? Art in a Divided World (1945-1968), and From Revolt to Postmodernity (1962-1982). In Room 206 you’ll find one of the museum’s highlights: Picasso’s masterpiece Guernica. Showcased by the Spanish Republican Government at the International Exposition of 1937 in Paris, the mural depicts the bombing of the old Basque city of Gernika in April 1937 and has become a lasting image of the horror of war.”

“👀 Plaza Mayor - one of Madrid's most famous and notable plazas, built in 1580. Used to be a market in the old days, now it's lined with restaurants and patios. This is where the famous squid sandwich (bocadillo de calamares). Coming to Madrid without trying one is like going to NY without eating a bagel. Do as the locals do and don’t dream of paying more than about €3.50. Don’t sit at one of the restaurants on the square – instead, make like a Madrileño and buy your sandwich from inside one of the surrounding bars, then either eat it standing in the bar, or find a bench and enjoy it al fresco.”
