The castle of Brederode dates from 1180 and housed 18 different lord up to 1679. Today you can visit the castle from March until end of October. From November until March the castle is closed because of the bats which then have their winter wake. However in spring/summer you can visit the castle and see the bats :) There are 9 different bat species living on the castle. Check the website for more information.
