Take the ferry from Buckley Bay (south of Courtenay) to Denman and then drive ten minutes across the island to take the ferry to Hornby. Line-ups are really busy in the summer, especially on weekends. Two beautiful islands to explore. Walk, bike, or drive onto the ferries and explore.

This is a gorgeous island - be sure to walk 'Helliwell bluffs + 2 of the best sand beaches on this coast. Fords Cove has remarkable rock formations. Lots of art studios. So very much to enjoy there.

Hornby Island is an Islanders favourite place! Best known for Tribune Bay dubbed “Little Hawaii” by the the locals. This beach is tucked away and is about as tropical as you will find on the West coast! While most airbnbs, campgrounds and glamping grounds (yes you read that right - luxury camping at Fossil Beach Farms) are booked well in advance by locals don’t let that deter you from spending a day here! From Honeymoon Bay you board a ferry to Denman Island. A short drive to the other end of Denman you will board a second ferry over to Hornby. Sounds taxing. But SO worth it! Hornby is an eclectic little island with lots of locally run shops and little restaurants. However we do suggest packing a lunch because once you hit Tribune Bay you won’t want to leave!

A beautiful island with gorgeous sandy beaches. Hornby Island can be reached by the ferry from Gravelly Bay to Shingle Spit. Runs approximately every hour from 7:45 am to 6:45 pm. But be careful...the last ferry back to Denman is at 6:00 pm on all days but Friday! In the summer it is quite busy - ferry lineups can be long. If you can go by bicycle you can get on more quickly.
