“Good coffee, good selection of snacks, really nice vibe. Live music in the evening, when it turns into a bar with good beer and cocktails. Dog friendly.”

“A National Trust property. Lyme Hall was used as the set for Pemberley in Colin Firth's Pride and Prejudice in the 1990s. Lyme Park is a huge country park for keen walkers/fell runners but has areas which are good for kite flying. There is a tremendous children's adventure playground, which is handily near the National Trust shop, toilets and a good tea room. You can either drive round via the A6 and pay for parking, or embark on a longish walk right from our front door on farmers tracks.”

“Set amongst Styal Woods. This is a great place to visit for a stroll through the woods (becomes a carpet of bluebells in spring) or to visit the Mill ( National Trust). The cotton mill was the heart of working life at Quarry Bank. Visit the mill to discover how Samuel Greg founded his cotton empire and the story of the cotton trade. You can also understand the hardships faced by the workers who toiled in the mill, and uncover engineering genius at work.”
