The museum houses the Zampelas family private collection consisting mainly of Cypriot Art from the 20th century to the present day. The founders, Michael and Loukia Zampelas, have been collecting and supporting the work of many Cypriot, Greek and international artists for a period of over fifty years. The Loukia & Michael Zampelas Art Museum is the first private foundation to showcase modern and contemporary art in Cyprus. Situated in Kaimakli, it is located very close to the centre of Nicosia, the cultural hub of the island. A glass bridge joining the old with the new building of 2012, highlights the remarkable site of the Museum that overlooks the mountain of Pentadaktylos.
