A lot of people go to Sintra to see the multi style/coloured Pena Palace, but I absolutely recommend Sintra National Palace. Some of the oldest and most beautiful tiles and ceilings in Portugal. Easy to go to Sintra by train, but if you want to avoid the crowds go early in the morning or later in…

Don't miss this visit ! Two white chimneys visible from far away are towering over an impressively sized kitchen; there are fine examples of telework from several centuries, and the views from the palace over the lands are unique.

The Palacio Nacional Sintra is the best-preserved medieval royal palace in Portugal and was a favourite with the Portuguese nobility. The minimalistic gothic exterior of the palace hides a wonder of decorative state rooms and the national palace is a highly recommended attraction while visiting…

“This 18th century palace is one of many UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the romantic playground of Sintra. No more than 25 minutes away by car. Our advise would be to take an Uber taxi to avoid winding, narrow roads and difficult parking. Alternatively bus tours are available or we can recommend a good driver for the day.”

“Hidden in the woods is this fascinating hobbit-like convent, originally built in 1560 to house friars, who lived in incredibly tight conditions, in small cells with low, narrow doors.”

“The Quinta da Regaleira is a decorative 20th century residence that is situated in the town of Sintra. The grand house is split over five floors and has an ornate gothic façade, but the real attraction is to the rear with the enchanting gardens. The gardens of the Quinta da Regaleira were styled to represent ancient secret orders, with hidden tunnels and concealed symbolism.”
