Millwood House was originally built in the Millwood mining village in the Knysna forests, site of South Africa’s first modern-era gold mining boon. (It was a very short one!) There are several displays, especially on the woodcutters who came close to decimating Knysna's old growth forests. Worth a visit on a rainy day, no admission but donations are welcome.

get a feel of what it must have been like to live during the Knysna "Gold Rush" in the late 1800's and early 1900's. one of our favourite spots
