A truly beautiful azure blue, crystal clear lake set in the mountains. You can take boat trips around the lake to Annecy town (nearest access from Menthon Saint Bernard) or (in the summer) hire pedaloes, canoes, paddle boards or motorboats etc. In the summer, the water can reach temperatures of up to 25C. There are numerous beaches dotted around the lake, suitable for swimming and sunbathing. Some are free to access, others, you pay a small fee to take advantage of facilities. Our favourite beaches include Plage Brune in Veyrier (free) and Saint Jorioz (soft, golden sand and shaded areas - pay beach).

A trip to Lac d'Annecy is almost obligatory! The views are stunning and you can swim in the crystal clear lake. Other activities include hiring bikes and cycling round the purpose made cycling track. Do not expect peace and quiet during July and August!

The icon of Annecy, one of the most beautiful lake in Europe. Don't hesitate to go for a walk or by bike, lot of beach around and restaurant/bar waterfront

Tour du Lac, accessible cycle path, excellent intermediate route for the full tour which includes steeper parts on East side (also possible to take a shuttle bus up with the bikes). Anti-clockwise route is steeper. Other options available including more level ride to Annecy town and back (36km there and back), full lake tour is 38km
