A great walk for all ages, with a pond area, and a beautiful beach that takes you out to lake Mi! These trails have a fairytale feeling to them, and there are some interactive activities for kids inside the main lodge. Tip - Bring a sweatshirt or jacket on a windy day because it's always a little cooler by lake MI.

It's less than a 5 minute drive from Heritage Hideaway to Thorne Swift Nature Preserve where you can enjoy a hands-on learning & activity Nature Center, boardwalks through woods and across streams, and the most spectacular sunset views you will find on Lake Michigan. Quickest access to Lower Shore Drive is to head south on M-119 for about a mile, then a sharp right; you can also access Lower Shore Drive via the northern M-119 access point, a bit further away.

Trails & Facilities: A large parking lot lies adjacent to the Elizabeth Kennedy Nature Center. A total of 1½ miles of trail, dune observation platform, pond observation platform, gazebo, amphitheatre, and seasonal guided programs all make this an excellent family destination.
