Real treat to stop off here on a walk to Castle Drogo or for just a shorter stroll along the river. They do lovely drinks in their walled garden or the large beautiful lounges when it is cold. Very friendly. Treat yourselves to afternoon tea or a meal.

We love this restaurant. Berto makes great authentic Italian food, but not in a hurry. This is a small and quaint venue for a very good value experience. Usually you bring your own alcohol, but check first. Not smart but fun for a relaxed meal or with kids.

On the edge of wild and magical Dartmoor in Devon is a hidden gem of all things small, cute and cuddly. This gem is called The Miniature Pony Centre. Can you imagine being able to go into a paddock and to be surrounded by miniature ponies and tiny foals. The joy of being able to stroke and cuddle them is something to remember forever. The Miniature Pony Centre is an animal lover’s idea of heaven! Lots of play equipment for little ones. Lovely family day out. Just 15 minutes drive. http://www.miniatureponycentre.com/
