Frederiksburg is a town about an hour drive south-west of Austin. It’s in prime hill country and boasts amazing wineries, great German cuisine and a quaint atmosphere. Walk along the historic city center and perhaps visit there for Oktoberfest.

Parks & Nature
At the Southern edge of downtown stretches the lovely Lady Bird Lake. Along the edge runs a Hike and Bike Trail. It provides the perfect path for walking, running, or bicycling year-round. If you prefer a more hands on approach, consider renting paddle boards or canoes to explore the area at greater length. For lovebirds, there are even swan-shaped peddle boats available!

The abundant, terraced patios make up for the mediocre food. They often have musical acts and special events along with a top floor Brewery that also sports an amazing view of the lake.

The Lyndon Baines Johnson Library & Museum commemorates the life of our nation’s 36th president. It does a good job balancing Johnson’s good and bad qualities, but come for the period-appropriate displays explaining what history remembers from this time period. It’s worth the trip for both it’s historical and informative exhibits.
