Carlone is Ideal to taste the typical dishes of the Roman cuisine, - "pasta alla carbonara, gricia, amatriciana, cacio e pepe" are the main dishes, but I would recomend also fried artichokes and the typical "puntarelle alla romana" as entrees. This traditional tavern is a must not only for turists but also for romans that want to spend good time in trastevere in a genuine place.

Probably "Ai marmi" is reported in any turistic guide but this place is also populated by locals that want to eat pizza and the marvelous "filetti di baccalà" without spending all the night sitting in the restaurant. Indeed, it is a typical place to eat before going to the cinema or the theater. This place takes the name from its famous marble tables. The atmosphere is really informal, tables are stacked and all the times that I went there I ended-up talking with my table neighbors, suggesting dishes and places to visit. Usually I prefer to stay inside because this way I can appreciate the work of chefs that are able to cook more than 15 pizzas at the same time inside the pizza oven!

Paola's fountain, also called "fontanone" offers a fantastic view of the city! This marvelous fountain is located on the top of the highest hill of Rome, the Gianicolo. It is not so far from the apartment and reaching it represents one of the most suggestive walks. The Basilica di San Crisogono, the Church of Santa Maria in Trastevere and its beautiful square deserves a visit along the itinerary. You will travel along the small vicoli of Trastevere until reaching via di Porta San Pancrazio the rise that will climb you in front of the Fontanone. From there the view is amazing! Every day at 12:00 a cannon shoots loaded with blanks to synchronize the clocks according the tradition!

Santa Cecilia is a wonderful Basilica, it is full of story and is remains just in front of the apartment. The Statue of Santa Cecilia realized by Stefano Maderno around 1600 replicates the exact position of the body of the martyr Cecila as it was found during the restoration of the Basilica in 1599. The legend says that in the 220 dC, Cecilia a young and noble Roman was beheaded because of her dedication to the diffusion of Christianity. The statue is located under the altar and it is sorrounded by the frescos of Pietro Cavallini. Also the crypt where the Saint was found also deserves a visit.

Outside the touristic itineraries the botanical garden is a magic place located at the foot of the Gianicolo's Hill. This was the place where I took out my fiancee at our first appointment! The garden is really beautiful and romantic, a quick visit will not take more than 1 hour and half and it could be the perfect intermediate stop before visiting the Vatican city or climb to the Gianicolo hill to appreciate the panoramic view.

This was the place where I took out my fiancee at our first appointment! The garden is really beautiful and romantic, a quick visit will not take more than 1 hour and half and it could be the perfect intermediate stop before visiting the Vatican city or climb to the Gianicolo hill to appreciate the panoramic view.
The rise of Rocca Savella offers you the possibility to take a walk in a magical place where time seems to be stuck at the Middle Age. At that time (1285 - 1287) the Savelli's castle dominated the high ground. Today there is a romantic garden that offers an amazing view of the city and the river, il Giardino degli Aranci. Over the foundations of the castle the church of Santa Sabina has been built and all the area deserves a visit. I highly recommend this promenade because is really near the apartment and it is in the same direction of other major monuments. A small deviation from the main attractions will immerse you in a quiet and romantic place.
