This bright and cheery bake shop is the iconic Hawaiian bakery surrounded by lush green grounds, beautiful water features, large gazebos for your outdoor enjoyment. The baked goods are wonderful and they have quite an assortment. They also make all different sorts of coffees and smoothies. A wonderful place to stop on the way to the Black Sand Beach, Whittington Park, Punalu'u beach park, or even Volcano's National Park. Punalu'u Bake Shop is a highly recommended stop.

We try to do most of our grocery shopping at Costco. On Saturday mornings there is a local farmers market/swap meet in the adjacent lot. They have great local foods, special little trinkets, and yummy fresh produce.

(14 miles from the house) This pristine green sand beach is a breathtaking experience. This is a great beach for water play. Can be windy at times. Expect to hike in or pay a local for a ride. Well worth the time and money to check out this favorite beach.

(10 miles from our home) Whiohinu is a small community at the south end of the island. Just past the tree that Mark Twain planted, there is a soccer field on the left. The water faucets near the end of the parking lot, is where we get our fresh drinking water. We've herd this is the best natural spring water on the island...
