The former royal palace of Tirtagangga (which means water of the Ganges, Hinduism's holy river) features tiered fountains, gardens, and stone sculptures of mythical creatures spouting water into bathing pools. Just outside the palace grounds, the views of the lush rice paddies of northeastern Bali are stunning.

There is a quiet black sand beach west of Candidasa called Pantai Labuan Amok. This is a clean beach in a pretty bay, and the offshore waters offer good snorkelling with live coral in shallow waters. There are many other small coves and bays to explore in this area and all visitors are encouraged to do so. 5 kilometres northeast of Candidasa is Pasir Putih (White Sand Beach), one of East Bali's well-kept secrets. It's a five hundred meters long, isolated, beautiful, white sand beach fringed with coconut palms. The magic turquoise ocean waters are so clean here, that you can see the underwater world through the waves while chilling on the beach. There are a few warungs with sun-beds and umbrellas, which you can use for free if you order some drinks or food. Locally caught fresh fish is on offer daily and the qualities of the meals are a pleasant surprise. The famous oldest Bali temple Goa Gajah in 10 minutes drive from the Arco Iris.
