The Central Park of Amsterdam. Young and very relaxed. It is the largest city park in Amsterdam and certainly the most famous park in the Netherlands. The Vondelpark is located in the city district Amsterdam-South it stretches from the Stadhouderskade until the Amstelveenseweg and is named after the city’s best-known poet, Joost van den Vondel (1587-1679), a statue of him stands in the park. The park is a national monument since 1996.

In the park you’ll find the National Monument of Slavery and a monument in memory of the filmmaker and columnist Theo van Gogh who was murdered in the Linnaeusstraat in 2004. In addition there are many other monuments to view.
