Renee's is a small but bright Pizza restaurant that offers options for everyone. It is one of the only places that I know of in Tucson where you can find vegan, gluten free pizza, as well as a lot of other tasty choices.

Eegee's is the only "fast food" restaurant that you will find on our list. It is a Tucson original started in 1971 by two young men who pooled their resources and started serving their frozen lemonade out of a food truck in front of the local high schools. From there, things took off and they started serving sandwiches and fries alongside a variety of frozen drinks. My favorite is still the frozen lemonade and the Buffalo Ranch Fries.

This is a wonderful bakery, breakfast and lunch spot. Get in line and order a café au lait with a croissant, other baked delicacies or something more substantial. Le Buzz is a meeting spot for serious cyclers so it may get a bit crowded on the weekend as people are carb loading for their bike trips. Weekdays mornings are a bit more relaxed.

Beyond bread specializes in delicious breads of course but they also make some great sandwiches, soup and salads. tI would also recommend their Cafe Feminino, it is one of the three coffees offered from the large thermoses where you fill your own cup. Order your food at the counter and it will be brought to your table, inside or out. They also recently began offering beer and wine. Tucked behind their shop is the "back dough" where you can pick up an assortment of sweet and savory pies.

Poco and Mom's specializes in "New Mexican" Mexican food so this is the place to get a whole variety of breakfasts platters featuring Hatch chili peppers in all their glory. If you are really hungry this is the place to go. It is within walking distance, though you do have to cross an busy intersection which might not be so easy once you have a full belly.

This is my daughter Eli's favorite breakfast restaurant as well as our neighbor Paul's. Once again, a great local breakfast restaurant serving really tasty food and a couple of their own unique creations.

There are two Saguaro National Parks, one on the far west side of town and one on the east. Both are home to an abundance of our most famous, iconic symbols of the Sonoran Desert, the giant Sahuaro Cactus. They are unique in all the world and it is definitely worth the time to check out the visitor centers and take the drives to get better acquainted with these remarkable cacti.
