Suria KLCC is especially known for its great food and beverage options. While the upper floors house a string of fine restaurants offering Eastern and Western delights, the ground floor is strewn with cosy cafes and bars. The promenade fronting the mall’s lovely fountain and park is dotted with more cafes and restaurants and is the spot most visitors head to for snapshots with the towers as backdrop. Connected to the mall is the Aquaria with its myriad marine life exhibits and geographical trivia. It’s safe to say that you would need more than a day to enjoy the retail, dining and entertainment pleasures of Suria KLCC because as its tagline claims, there is ‘Always Something New'.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is KL’s haute couture shopping Mecca. It takes a lot to stand out in the city’s mallscape but this shopping centre, which occupies prime real estate along Jalan Bukit Bintang, does just that. Opened in 2007 it has three major sections – a retail mall, an office block and two residential towers. Keeping the city’s fashionistas looking polished, this KL staple is the perfect example of how extravagant some malls can be. It features almost the same staggering square footage as Mid Valley Megamall and 1 Utama and the 1.37 million-sqft white marble complex is a combination of indoor and outdoor shopping venues.

A helipad refers to an area or platform for helicopters to land or takeoff, but the helipad that located at Menara KH in Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur is more than just a landing spot for aircraft. Believe it or not, it is also a rooftop bar that bears the name as Heli Lounge Bar. On the 34th floor below the rooftop helipad, the bar features an aeronautical theme that comes with plenty of unique features upon entering the premise. Lastly, Heli Lounge Bar’s little-known status will make you feel like you are part of the super elite when you visit.

Standing majestically atop Bukit Nanas at 421 meters and 94 meters above sea level, KL Tower is a prominent feature of the city’s skyline and perhaps one of the most enduring images a visitor to KL will remember. Its architecture reflects the country's Islamic heritage, with the construction detailing Arabic scripts, Islamic tiles, classic Islamic floral and abstract motifs and soothing colour combinations. Besides the panoramic view, KL Tower has something for city dwellers who love nature. The verdant green surrounding Menara KL is the Bukit Nanas Forest - the only oldest gazetted forest reserve in the country. It covers an area of 10.05 hectares and is considered the green lung of KL.

Merdeka Square is undoubtedly KL’s best known landmark. Also called Dataran Merdeka, it is set in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building (the former State Secretariat). Directly in front is the Royal Selangor Club and to the north is St. Mary’s Church, one of Malaysia’s oldest Anglican churches. The beautifully-tended, 200m-long padang is the most famous stretch of green in KL – it was here that Malaysia proclaimed merdeka (freedom or independence) on August 31st, 1957.
