Drive, walk, bike, golf carts, or Breezy Cab...
The island is only about 3.5 miles long so you are never far from anything. You can walk to various shops and restaurants from most places on the island. Biking is also another great option. If you don't want to find a place to park, call the Breezy cab and they will take you anywhere on the island for $5 per person. Then you can enjoy some adult beverages and have a safe ride back to your rental. Bikes or golf carts can be rented through local island companies. PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU HAVE A RESERVATION AT SAVANNAH BEACH & RACQUET CLUB, GOLF CARTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THAT COMPLEX.

Book in advance
If you are planning to visit Tybee between May and September, you will want to book accommodations in advance. The island has a lot of visitors that return year after year and places sometimes book a year in advance. If you plan on renting a golf cart for your stay you will want to book that in advance too.

Pay to park on Tybee
Tybee is a "pay-to-park" community. 7 days a week/ 365 days a year. Normally, your rental comes with parking but please keep in mind how many cars you are allowed as any extras will need to pay for parking off-site. Download the ParkTYB app before your arrival. It makes it easy to add additional time if you need it and you can move around too!

Shorts, bathing suits, and flip-flops!
Tybee Island is very laid back. During spring, summer, and fall, pack lots of shorts, bathing suits, and sunscreen. Flip-flops are the shoes of choice here. Pack something a little dressier if you are having a special dinner out one night. If you are coming in the cooler months, pack a hoodie and some long pants just in case :)
Otherwise, pack light, relax, and enjoy your vacation!

Don't speed!
Tybee Island takes its speed limits very seriously. Don't take a traffic ticket home as a souvenir! There are flashing lights at most of the pedestrian crosswalks. Pay attention and stop for pedestrians... it's the law!

Sea Turtle Nesting Season
Nesting season begins May 1st and typically ends at the end of October. During this time, the program "Lights Out on Tybee" is in effect. To avoid turtle disorientation, please make sure to turn off beachfront lights by 10 p.m., avoid the use of cell phones and only use red flashlights on the beach.
Fill in any holes that you dig and flatten any sand castles when your beach day is finished... leave a clear path for mama turtle to come in from the sea and make her nest.
