It's the iconic Jet d'Eau, literally meaning 'water jet', is the huge Fountain on Geneva Lake, in the city of Geneva, Switzerland. Jet d'Eau is one of the tallest fountains in the world. Originally, in 1886 they built the fountain to control and release the excess pressure of a hydraulic plant at La Coulouvrenière. Shortly it became a remarkable symbol of the city and so it was amplified and relocated to the center of the Lake. The Fountain's presence gives power to the place, every time you look at its majesty you are reminded that you are in a powerful and well-organized country. Soon after being finished, the fountain became the symbol of strength, ambition, and vitality of Geneva and Switzerland. Its strong engines pump 500 liters of water per second to the height of 140 meters.

Lying between the rivers Rhône and Arve, at the foot of a Genevan Energy Services station that would be better suited to house a swiss Bond villain, the Pointe de la Jonction is a calm and beautiful place. It is the exact point where the two rivers in Geneva merge to form only one. By some black magic (it is more than probable that it is due to the temperature difference between the rivers), the waters of the Rhône and the Arve don’t actually mix for a while after that, so what is left is a brown and green two-tone river that is mesmerizing. The very edge of the point is accessible on foot from either side of it, the left being more fun, because as soon as the sun comes out in the spring, throngs of locals converge to the spot to bathe, grill meats and enjoy some drinks. The city of Geneva also provides some showers and a bar, to make the whole experience a delight. If you feel like a hike, you can also see this from atop a small railway bridge located a few meters after the point. It’s easy to find, there are signs aplenty, and an adorable little café at one end of the bridge.

Neighborhoods

Rhône and Arve Jonction Jonction is a place where rivers Rhône and Arve are joining each other, which creates a beautiful and unique natural phenomenon. Both rivers have different colors of water and when joining, their waters are mixing and shuffling and joining together into the one final river, Rhône. You can watch this scenario best from the bridge, situated conveniently just 40 meters after the junction. Southern River Arve is faster and more rapid and moves the white sand, that's why it is almost milky white, while the northern river (coming from the Lake), Rhône, is slower and darker. Culture Rivers join at the end of the tip of La Jonction, at a place called Port Junction, where you can find a DJ playing music and young people partying on warm sunny evenings. It's not allowed to jump from the bridge, but some people do it and swim/float in the river. Many people are jogging and running around here, as this place is close to the city center yet surrounded by nature.

Toogoodtogo

This app is amazing! Too Good To Go is a free app available for Android and iOS devices. It allows you to get restaurant-quality food for a fraction of the price. There are no catches or hidden conditions. The application gets you good food for an even better price. Too Good To Go lets you buy unsold food from places that sell food around you—restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, etc. Anything that got left unsold at the end of the service time for that place and would otherwise go to waste, but this app lets you buy it.
