Gastronomía

It's our favourite tapas place, it's small, and if it's busy when you arrive, it's well worth waiting a few minutes for a free table. If you decide to go, be sure to order the calamari, tuna tataki or oxtail. They also have an excellent selection of wines.

If you want to have a more elegant, cosy dinner in a truly unforgettable place, I recommend the small restaurant Algarabía, very close to the Royal Theatre. It is a very small restaurant run by two sisters with delicious traditional Rioja cuisine and excellent wines. Without a doubt a very special experience. It is an extremely small restaurant so I recommend you to book in advance because there are only 4 or 5 tables. Undoubtedly one of the most charming places in Madrid, and if you say you are coming from me, I'm sure you will be treated even better. They know me from all the times I've been there hehehehe.

You walk past this little bar and it's likely to go unnoticed... and like so many things in life... we're missing out on so much! Well, don't hesitate and let yourself be carried away by a menu of very Basque food, very modern and of very high quality. Let yourself be seduced by the gastronomic suggestions of the day.

We love this charming tavern where you can enjoy tapas and portions of an above-average level, superior in quality, imagination and size... Oh my God, those are croquettes! Whether it's just for a little while or for a complete dinner, you can't go wrong at this place.

Have you heard of vermouth? Well, here they make their own and serve it in a very cool way: they put a little gin spray in the glass and top the vermouth with a few drops of Campari to reinforce its bitterness. And for tapas? You wouldn't have time to try the whole menu, everything is delicious.

This is the heart of the old city, the oldest part of Madrid, full of corners where you can lose yourself and where you will find traces of our city's past. The Plaza Mayor, the Monasterio de la Encarnación and the Plaza de La Villa are the main architectural jewels that were built in the time of the Habsburg monarchy and are well worth a visit. Another place worth visiting is the Descalzas Reales Monastery. And it is an unknown visit, a hidden corner that you cannot miss. A convent? Yes, I know it sounds boring, but it is also the former royal seat of King Charles I, and has a permanent exhibition of works of art from the 16th century onwards. In addition, the Palace of Santa Cruz, built in 1629, now houses the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. And of course, the most spectacular building in our neighbourhood is none other than the Royal Palace. We highly recommend a visit, not only to the palace but also to the gardens of the Plaza de Oriente, get lost in them. Take a look at our restaurant recommendations because we have things to suggest you in this area. We're not big fans of La Almudena Cathedral, but there it is, in case you want to visit it. Watch out for the decorations on the ceiling, if you look closely you might have an epileptic fit because of the unusual combination of colours. Do you want more stuff? No problem at the Colegiata de San Isidro, Madrid's cathedral until 1993, the Basilica of San Miguel, the Basilica of San Francisco el Grande, or the Teatro Real. The Mirador de la Cornisa of the Royal Palace from where you can enjoy beautiful views of the Campo del Moro Gardens and the Casa de Campo. The Gaviria Palace, a luxurious 19th century palatial building whose style is reminiscent of Italian Renaissance palaces and which has been refurbished in recent years to host different exhibitions throughout the year. The Sabatini Gardens, at the foot of the north façade of the Royal Palace. Not to be forgotten is the Campo del Moro, a fabulous English-style garden whose elevated position was used to create one of the best views of Madrid and where it is possible to have your photograph taken with peacocks. You choose whether you prefer to do it on foot or on board a segway, a tuk tuk or a bike, thanks to a wide range of rental options.
