Isola da Vivere!

Really nice park! Opportunity to relax, play sports, take your pet to stretch their paws at dog run, or simply walk through the greenery, surrounded by technology, design and urban life! There is no shortage of daily events and attractions even for children, thanks to the BAM foundation.

Piazza Gae Aulenti is a large circular pedestrian space raised above street level. In the centre, surrounded by a long stone bench, there are three infinity fountains which during the day come alive with water games to the rhythm of music and in the evening they bask in the light of the Solar Tree, a LED light installation which uses solar energy. Along the perimeter, the Unicredit Tower rises, its 230 meters making it the tallest skyscraper in Italy, and two other futuristic buildings, all in steel and glass, which, as if in an embrace, envelop the square.

In pochi minuti a piedi si può raggiungere la stazione di Porta Garibaldi da cui partono numerosi treni per i Laghi della Lombardia e i suoi meravigliosi Borghi. In a few minutes by foot, you can reach the Porta Garibaldi Station from which many trains depart for the Lakes, Maggiore and Como, and its beautiful little villages.

“Before Expo 2015, many people would have had no reason to come to this neighborhood,” notes Time Out. “Seven years and an entire redevelopment later, Isola claims the title of Milan's coolest neighborhood.” And in the ranking of the English magazine it is in position number 8. You can walk to the fancy Brera area in around 20 minutes from Isola. The best way to get there is to go through Gae Aulenti, then arrive in Corso Como - and then Corso Garibaldi. Enjoy :))

Pastry shop L’Ile Douce is the best spot to start your day – order a traditional Milanese brioche with an espresso, and watch the neighbourhood slowly wake up. Keep an eye out for street art as you mosey around the streets, then stop for lunch at Deus Cafe, which is part café, part workshop, and part cycle store. The afternoon could be spent exploring artistic tombs and monuments at Cimetero Monumentale; checking out Milan’s ‘Vertical Forest’ Bosco Verticale, or vintage shopping at Room 37 or Live in Vintage.

Being in Milan, you can’t skip aperitivo. Go to Bob for well-mixed cocktails or E…brezza for wine, then try snagging a seat at Ratana for contemporary takes on traditional Milanese cuisine. Jazz club Blue Note is where you want to end the evening – check their calendar to see who’s playing.
