Kailua is one of the nicest white sand beaches IN THE WORLD. Just 20 minutes from our home.
This is our family's favorite SUMMERTIME snorkeling place; also THREE TABLES just a few hundred yards to the north of it. It's on the North Shore and has TONS of fish and turtles. There are two areas, one being a very large and shallow tidepoolish area that little kids and weaker swimmers will enjoy and another wonderful deep area where you can dive down and explore caves and caverns. We like to go with snorkel, mask, fins and boogie boards. Foodland and Starbucks is right across the street and other good eateries (like Ted's Bakery) nearby. However, do NOt go here during the winter due to dangerous winter water conditions on the North Shore.

So many movies were filmed here (King Kong, Jurassic Park and more) and they have a great tour through old movie sets. You can stand in a dinosaur footprint :) Very fun for the kids and a uniquely large and beautiful private ranch. You can also feed the horses and small farm animals!

We have done several trail rides here at Gunstock and have enjoyed it every time. The kids loved it when they were in elementary school. They have different levels for different riders. There are beautiful vistas and peaceful, lush Hawaiian scenery on these trails. You can pet the goats on the ranch too.

I've been going to this zoo for over 50 years and still love it. It's small but they do a really nice job of making it interesting and with lots of nooks and crannies. Elephants, hippos, rhinos, lemurs, lions, giraffes, crocs, zebras, and shaved ice, too. The petting zoo is awesome for little kids with a mountain of goats.

It's a historic landmark now run by good friends and featuring delicious, freshly baked yummies and also hearty breakfast and lunch. I like the Short Rib Loco Moco and also the Croissant Breakfast sandwich with avocado and bacon! Beautiful environment.

Very lovely restaurant in Neiman Marcus at Ala Moana for a special occasion. It has one of the nicest ocean views and a relaxed but indulgent vibe. Their popovers are delicious. We like to take our grandmother here for her birthday. Definitely get a reservation.
