The places I like to eat

I’m a food lover, I’m vegan, I eat out way more than I eat in!
Shibden Mill Inn - Halifax, an award winning country pub and inn and offers wide range of seasonal gourmet dining experiences and has recently been named the best gastropub in Yorkshire beating the likes of Michelin starred restaurants. A fine dining gastro pub in cosy old cottage setting. I like lunch there (a fancy lunch) as it’s nestled in some beautiful walks another top 50 gastro pub. 15 drive from cabin and you need to book - £££

Love everything about these guys and it’s a weekend ritual going to collect fresh bread. There’s always a queue and they close when they sell out. If your a keen baker book on to one of their sourdough classes

I’m new to the party as far as this place is concerned but I have to say consistently great cooking and a lovely husband wife team that own it! Sunday lunch is the winner for me as they do vegan roast. It can be busy so make sure you book/ring ahead

This place is a bit crackers but it’s new so I hope it finds its feet. Its like a local old fashioned pub that does a great modern tapas menu . I wish it’s vegan offering was good as I’d eat here often but what I’ve seen of the food I’m sure if you’re a meat eater you’ll leave well fed! It’s walking distance from the cabin so great for those visitors without a car or those that want to stay local.

I could go on all day about Leeds so if you are planning on visiting and need some advice probs easier to ask me. I know it inside out so fire away😊 It’s a 20/25 min drive in low traffic or 45 min in high traffic

Halifax is town for us. Gotta be honest I don’t go there often as leeds is my go to spot for city stuff however the architecture is beautiful and there are some hidden gems. The Piece Hall is a must if you go there, browse the indie shops or grab a drink and people watch.

Kind of a hidden gem and well worth a mooch. Nestled in prestine countryside - I love the industrial-ness against the moorland. If you go you gotta grab a drink in the tiny pub that’s actually a stall in the old market - it’s cool as f&@k

My favourites walks around here

One of my happy places. Depending on how long you have this walk has it all for me. Start at the reservoir, wander into farmland, skirt around the moor, woodland galore and the quaintest hamlets, farms and converted mills to lust over. If you do it right you end up full circle back at the reservoir without needing to go back on yourself. Happy to give better advice if you choose to do this walk but - just get lost I say as that’s part of the fun.

This place is never ending and it’s vastness is what makes it so epic. At pints you can see for miles and if you do it right you cover around 6 reservoirs on your walk. It’s quiet remote in parts so not for anyone who’s not committed to a good long trek (although I’m sure you can do it in parts - I just always do the long slog)

Used to go here as a kid and it still has a great pull, I think it’s the country’s longest canal tunnel and pretty cool to take the trip under the Pennines to Manchester on it. The surrounding villages of Marsden, Slaitwaite and Linthwaite are all pretty cool now with bars, cafes and restaurants popping up all the time.

Great little park just at the top of the road from the cabin (2mins walk) ideal for quick simple dog walking. If you want a longer local walk Deer Park is accessed from here - just walk to opposite exit at bottom right of park and enter Deer Park via the gate into woodland.

Found this beauty recently and it’s amazing. The river was super high when I was there so this added to the fun. Around 30 mins drive up the m62 so not far and they have a cute cafe in a converted rail carriage on a old platform

Again another town close by incase you need any bits and bats. There a chemist, all the usual shops, cafes, bars, restaurants etc and a huge Morrison’s supermarket. There actually a really cute old school cinema here that’s an experience in its self. Elland is a 5 min drive or a 15/20 min walk from the cabin.

Sightseeing

Id say a trip to Haworth is a must if you have never been. its like going back in time and its all so picture perfect. Oh and if literature is your thing it was the home of the Bronte Sisters. when wandering around your reminded of its history everywhere you turn.
